Here we are in the hottest month of the year in N Idaho and we’ve had nothing but clouds, rain, and even T-storms!! So, my first day of off-grid cooking was a little disappointing since I had planned on using my All-American sun oven! No worries, I made a switch and decided to focus in on our Silver Fire Survivor Rocket Stove which was a LOT easier than I thought it would be. Honestly, our set-up is so user friendly I feel like I’m kind of cheating!
I did put fresh corn in the sun oven for several hours which heated up to 250 and back down to 150 off and on all afternoon but it still cooked it and made it hot enough to enjoy for dinner. So I have NO recipe for you today since I made something on the fly and super quick and easy – quesadillas. I was fortunate enough to be able to add fresh jalapeño from our garden which gave it a nice kick!
Tomorrow is supposed to be a sunny day so my hope is to cook up a nice loaf of bread! I will be sharing the recipe I use so I hope you’ll follow me on Facebook, YouTube, or subscribe to our RSS feed to get updates on my journey!
